The criticism is not signing Roberto on a free, but signing him on a free if he was the best keeper available (to us, not Champions' League contenders) on a free.

Trying to think of positives.

I thought Cresswell had a decent game. I don’t think the defence played that badly to be honest, but Roberto puts them under tons of pressure. Anderson was really abysmal. The rest were fairly anonymous.

The manager is struggling, the players have been piss poor but we have changed both over the last 9 years and achieved nothing.
They all need to go (again) but it starts by changing the incompetent cretins in charge

Anyone blaming Sullivan and giving the inept manager and players a free rein are talking absolute shit.

The management and players are paid a fortune and have zero pride. They should be playing for the travelling fans at the very least. I’d hope that Sullivan is ripping the fuck out of the useless pricks and is as pissed off as the rest of us.

There are plenty of goalkeepers on frees. Even Liverpool who are one of the best teams in the world signed a 2nd choice keeper on a free. We signed Adrian as a back up keeper on a free. Same with Randolph.

Who actually spends fortunes for a back up goalkeeper?

As I said there were plenty of goalkeepers on a free this summer and it was the manager and director of footballs choice to bring in Roberto who they knew from Spain.

Just like it was THEIR choice to spend 23 million on Fornals instead of another central midfielder.

Stop making excuses for the 4th highest paid manager in the premier league and the players who also earn fortunes.

Spot on, especially about balbuena. He was excellent last year, consistent and the rock in defence. Diop has a blip but came back stronger. This season the whole back four look clueless whoever we pick. It’s got proper shades of grant about it, in that players who looked decent are looking worse and worse every week as if the ability is being coached out of them

It’s all very bizarre and inexcusable

If you were making a video of how not to play against Burnley that was perfect.
Not sure where we go from here. We are diabolical and don’t look like we can defend against anyone.
The last two games at least we should have conceded 5.
Not sure the manager has it in him to change this or we have the players to change it.

If the latter, he may well have been right. But he won't have set the budget.

It is painfully obvious the basics of pre-match preparation are simply not being done. No work on the opposition’s weaknesses, no counter to their setpieces, no setpieces of our own and above all, no passing flow between players when on the ball. This is the manager’s job and that of his staff and it’s simply not being done in the most glaringly obvious manner.
